Safeguarding
Marshland St James is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.
We follow the procedures set out by Norfolk Safeguarding children's Board and the Norfolk safeguarding procedures. We also take into account the guidance issued by the Department for Education, School and families.

Cause for Concern
Our first priority is your child's welfare and the school is required to take any reasonable action to protect the welfare of it's pupils. However there may be occasions when we have reason to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse. We will ensure that our concerns about a child are discussed with his/her parents/carers where possible, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. In this case, the school is obliged to follow the Child Protection procedures established by Norfolk Safeguarding Board and inform Children's services of the concern.
If you are worried about a child's safety please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Durrant or contact the Norfolk Children's Advice and Duty service (CADS) on 0344 800 8021 straight away.
If you would like further information about keeping your child safe, the national Society for the prevention of cruelty to children (NSPCC) has lots of advice and guidance. Please see the link below:
