We hope you and your children had a great summer holiday and are looking forward to all the new experiences they are going to have at school.
 
English 
In English we will be looking at stories as well as non-fiction writing. We are also linking this term’s reading to our overall topic of space. The children will be looking at grammar, spelling and punctuation that links to the texts we are working on. There will be weekly spelling tests.
 
Maths 
This term we will be looking at number and place value, mental and written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, factors. We will also look at solving problems within all of topics we cover.
 
Science
We will be looking at the topic Space, in this topic we will cover: Earth, Stars and Sun, the way our solar system works, the phases of the moon and important scientists linked to space and the stars.
 
Computing
In Computing we will look at E-Safety, the children will find out about how to keep themselves safe whilst using computers, smart phones, games systems and tablets. 
 
History
We will be discovering Ancient Civilisations, we will be looking at how these civilisations used the stars, what things they used the stars for and link this to our Science topic.
 
PE
Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday, Wednesday will be a PE lesson where children will look at various activities including their own fitness. On Thursday the children will take part in Tag Rugby. Please ensure PE kits are in school on Monday and stay in school all week.
 
Art
In Art will be looking at patterns, including patterns in the sky, stars and on objects. We will be sketching, painting and drawing.
 
RE
In RE we will be looking at the new RE curriculum, in this we will answer the question ‘How can following God bring freedom and justice?’ We will look at a range of Bible stories during our lessons.
 
Class Assembly
Our class assembly in on Wednesday 15th November 2017.
 
Homework
Homework is an important part of your child’s learning, in addition to the homework book (a separate letter will be issued about this) we will expect the children to read on a regular basis and to learn spellings for the weekly spelling test.
