School Governor Wanted

We currently have a vacancy for a school Governor.

Our governors make significant contributions to the vision and ambitions of the school (Ofsted Report 2018) and we are looking for someone to be a School Governor who can positively contribute to the work of the Governing Body in raising standards of achievement for all pupils at Marshland St James Primary & Nursery School.

The Governing Body is accountable for the strategic direction and the performance of the School. We are particularly looking for candidates who possess some of the following skills and experience: an interest in education, an understanding of the School’s values and ethos, collaborative working, financial experience or premises management knowledge.

The school is part of The Diocese of Ely Multi-Academy Trust (DEMAT), we have a Local Governing Body (LGB) which operates under a Scheme of Delegation agreed by the Trust. The usual term of office for Governors is four years. To support the operation of the LGB there are two main sub committees, each Governor is a member of one of the sub committees. Induction and training is offered for all new Governors. Governors can expect to attend 2 or 3 meetings a term, usually in the evenings. Governors also take part in various school monitoring activities, which usually take place during the school day.

Marshland St James Primary & Nursery School is a diverse community where children are encouraged to explore and celebrate individuality, and to build upon who they are to achieve success. Marshland St James School promotes and develops its distinctive nature as a Church of England School in partnership with its Parish, and the Diocese of Ely.
